According to what I read the IT industry is rebounding.
Any sign of that in hiring? Or are most of you guys still
driving cabs and flipping burgers? |

Yes.
Check out burger king ads  Seriously... unless you love computers.... find
another career. We aren't in it for the money, beleive me.

I can assure you that there's not alot of money in entry level IT in
Florida!!! But then companies are consistently underpaying the working
ranks in FL, due to the transitory nature of the state, people move here
cause they came on vacation in the winter and then once they see the
cochroaches the size of your fist that fly (we affectionately call them
Palmetto bugs, but their roaches) and the humidity gets to 98% in the
summer they sweat through their clothes within 2 minutes of walking out
the door everyday alot of em get sick of it and haul butt back to
wherever they came from.
So the companies have a field day down here, they know their hardly ever
gonna have to pay anyone a pension and a new guy will be around soon that
will allow them to keep the wages at the bottom floor.
Can't wait to get back to California. I'm gonna start counting down like
Howard Stern with his contract.

Actually, most of those 'jobs' are posted by recruiters trying to fill
their files to call you later about something entirely unrelated to IT
work. Recruiters are generally scum, note I said generally I have met a
few that actually do work hard for you. But most are just trying to fill
a quota for the month.
