Hi,
I've been working with Win2k for about 2 years now, and a few months ago I
took a week long training course to cover exam 70-210. I'm looking at taking
my exam in the near future, and I'm looking at doing some extra revision.
I've read the osbourne book (MCSE Win2k Pro: Certification Passport) and
gone through a set of 5 learnkey cd roms. I've seen sites like
cramsession.com are these any good? Should I be using them? Or would it be
seen as cheating? (which I don't want to do). I'd rather pass the exam
knowing I did it properly!
Cheers

Since Windows 2003 is out....more than likely Microsoft
will be discontinuing the 2000 exams very soon, not to
mention win 2003 mcse will look better on the resume than
win 2000 mcse. (think about it...would you hire someone
with NT4.0 mcse today that didnt upgrade it?)
Start with the latest OS (win xp and win 2003) Most
people that work full time take about a year to get the
mcse.....if your unemployed....probably a couple months
just my opinion.....

That's something else I was wondering, should I try and
gain MCSE
certification by doing all of the Win2000 exams, or is
it not worth it now
that 2003 server is out, and of course next year we have
longhorn/Win2005
whatever its going to be called. Should I be aiming for
2003/05
certification, if 2000 will be obsolete in a year or 2
time?

I just read a book and took mine 3 years ago.
I got alot of questions about permissions and ntfs so
study file sharing and permissions until you are bored
with it.
I bought transcender back then and memorized it but
only
has 2 questions that were from transcender so I will
not
use study guides anymore. you may want to look into 70-
270 (windows xp pro) right after you take 70-210 since
so
much is similar.

Dude, everyone says Transcender is legit, but its
basically TestKing in a question answer exam engine
written in VB6.
Anyone that disagrees with this assessment is a fag
pakkage and cannot handle the trooth.
So, feel free to use anything that choose in your quest
for MCSE immortality.

I don't think cramsession is a Q&A book, (which I wouldn't consider
getting), its just a lot of technical referance crammed into a 50(ish) page
or so for easy reading. I thinkits just the main points highlighted without
lots of detail. But I'm not sure. I was wondering if anyone else had used
this website for revision?

were did you come up with that?
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcpexams/status/retired.asp
says they are good for at least a year. If you have completed them by the
time they retire the MCSE on Win2k is perma-good. But hey what do I know
right, I just read what's on the MS website...

Cramsession is just someone else's study notes. They go
the extra leg NOT to be associated with braindumps. I
have never bought any of their packages though.
I have always ahad a lot of good experience with Self Test
Software.
I aggree with the idea to just go ahead and take the XP
test, the subject matter is almost identical.

I got a cramsession study guide for free and I read it. It was not always
correct but it is a good start for studying high points just before a test.
I think transcender is better and also used the exams that came with my
self-paced training kit.
As for whether to do the 2000 MCSE or the 2003 MCSE, you will be the best
judge of that. Currently there are more 2000 implementations than 2003
implementations so, from a practical standpoint, I'm thinking doing the 2000
and upgrading to 2003 with two additional tests is the best way for me to
prepare to actually DO this stuff. I'm opting to take 70-270 as part of my
2000 MCSE because you can do either and I have much more experience in 2000
so I want to learn something new.
Bottom line: Decide what it is you want to accomplish with all this and
match the exams you prep for to that goal.
