Oh! So the pidgin being spoken by those louts in Glasgow is English, is
it? And the incomprehensible jargot spoken by the "gangsta's" and their
wannabes is also English?

I read that book ~40 years ago. But even if I'd read it more recently, I

Most people try to forget this kind of thing, the Topsy story's a little too

much like Black Sambo in the politically correct community.

Unless you don't live there, in which case, chuck away.

Yabbut "vertically" and "challenged" are at least real words. They don't
lose their meaning until some PC twit sticks em together in the same
sentence. Handicapable for another. Grrr...

Take "waitperson" for example. WTF is that? And why is the plural not
"waitpeople", but "waitpersons". But that's a whole 'nother rant.

And what about "Rap Music"? Now *that's* an oxymoron.

nothing spoken in glasgow is english...

so now you are agreeing that "gangsta's" (who are mainly under educated
yanks) make it up as well..
so the basis of all this was founded on dodgey information... that seems to
be becoming a trait of your country :)

My contention was, that except for isolated enclaves, there was no
country that spoke "English" including 'murrica.

As far as the 'making it up' bit. C'mon. have you listened to
yourselves? If you can't think of an epithet or a descriptive label,
some silly sounding word suddenly just appears out of nowhere. It's like
the MPFC sketch about the RAF pilot's banter that even his own mates
couldn't understand. Monty Python poked fun at the very thing I am
referring to 30 years ago.

(Now *that* was arguing.)
