MCSD.NET 2005 certification

I would like to take up MCSD.NET certification and am learning C#. Would someone help me regarding the study material(FREE. Also is experience in .NET a pre-requisite for .NET certifications? Which one should I take: C# or VB.NET (I know VB 6 but don't have industry experience in VB). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ashok
