Dear TwoBearCatz,
Surely you have something better to do than upset your digestion. Go take
an anti-acid and stop reading this thread! Its bad for your blood
pressure.
Tom
LOL! True True. However, once I get going on the old Computer Science
and undercutting rant it's really hard to stop! If I knew this field
was over 50% unqualified arrogant blowhards I would have stepped into a
different major in college. Oh well.. *when* I build up enough savings
I intend to try for law school. Then, hopefully someday these rants
will be a thing of the past!
|
"Over 50% unqualified arrogant blowhards" sounds just like the CS
graduates I've met.

feel the need to overcompensate, overtime, and brag about every little
thing you've ever done in the field you lack even the most basic
educational requirements for?! For example, back around '99 I (almost
singlehandedly) developed an e-commerce and catalog framework for a
large mountain bike company. I used server side Java (exclusively) and
this was when Java was in its infancy. The whole thing actually worked
well and they still use it to this day. but ........... SEE ...........

"I don't feel the need to fart about anything I've done in this field

or just how to open a beer can with your toes?

probably quite happy when you leave, get fired, etc. After you make an
INVESTMENT as a PROFESSIONAL in a CAREER ... the rest is just that - A
CAREER. It's a job. We "degreed" people don't have this burning need to

stupid, lazy, or otherwise crummy "degreed" workers. It is to say that
your perception is completely WRONG.

What I perceive as arrogant and lazy is someone who can't be bother
to answer questions when they *** up a multi-million dollar design,
then try to pass the buck.

Do you realize how *** stupid you sound? Just read that out loud. YEAH
, the fact they hold a college degree IN the field must have SOMETHING
to do with your opinion on the "boners" they pulled.

Management soon agreed with my assessment, and made them do things by
our SOP, not whatever they wanted to do. The first words of of the head
of the IT director was that we were going to have all new computers
within three months. I knew from that one statement he didn't know what
he was talking about. He is the same idiot who replaced the windows 2.0
on a test bed computer that wasn't part of the network. he installed
Win 95, after he reformatted the drive, and didn't back up all the test
software. BTW, That software ONLY ran under Win 2.0. It was written in
house at Scientific Atlanta for their Telemetry receiver line, before
they were sued for patent infringement and quit that business.

Even smarter yet. You have some proof on this? LOL.
You're just mad like just about EVERY uneducated IT worker I've EVER
had this convo with. I've seen a guys face turn red (literally) when
this topic comes up. It's the least I can do At least I can have
such conversations on the Internet nowadays without fear of revenge
from some angry uneducated dimwit on the job.
|
I'm not an IT worker. I WAS an EET at a major telemetry equipment
manufacturer before my health failed. When i started repairing computers
you used a scope and a soldering iron to find and replace bad ICs and
other components. Mini computers, industrial equipment, and very early
personal computers. I've never seen a CS that could troubleshoot a real
electronics problem in a computer. They just stuff boards till it wakes
up. How many motherboards have you repaired? Maybe some Intel
Multibuss, or Motorola Exorcisor systems?
Now that I am 100% disabled, I repair computers to keep busy. Unlike
some people, I always looked forward to a day of hard work at the
bench. It didn't matter if it was the TV repair i was doing at 13, or
building a TV station when I was 40. I like electronics. I like
learning, and until i became disabled, I spent about 10 to 12 hours a
week keeping up to date with the latest technologies in the field.
Computers are a small subset, but its a lot better than just giving up
and dying.
If you are afraid to talk to people face to face, you have real
problems.

The sig file is there to remind an online stalker that he hasn't,
and can't stop my project to refurbish and give away computers to other
disabled Veterans. As far as my military service, I tested out of a
three year electronics course in basic training, and their aptitude
tests started that i had the equivalent of four years of college. I
would have my EE degree, if I wasn't drafted. That is Electrical
Engineering, not a fluffy course like CS. Remind me, is it one step
above or under TV journalism?
Try hanging around on news:sci.electronics.design some time. They
will hand you your head with your piss poor attitude.

Give me a break. Whether you or he is right or wrong about many of the
points of this discussion, the college degree has nothing to do with being
a professional or not.
It seems as though the only points of this discussion that this TwoBearCatz
has to offer are:
If you don't have a college degree AND if you don't advertise in the Yellow
Pages AND if you don't charge the same half-hourly fee as this person does,
you're an thick-skulled, riff-raff, Yoda, non big boy, non-professional,
fly-by-night, unqualified, jerkoff, impostor.
And everyone is entitled to their opinion. And all that this person has had
to offer are opinions. He/she could be an eighth grade dropout and be
typing from a jail cell, for all the rest of us know.
And when a person had nothing but opinions to offer AND are unwilling to
divulge who they are, for fear of accountability, or being caught in a lie,
they are a coward. In my opinion. And looking down at some of this
person's other posts, whenever he/she meets disagreement, he/she can only
resort to ridicule. Sad, sad, sad. Inasmuch as I strongly agree with them
about the problem of software piracy, he/she undermined whatever credibility
that they might have had, not too far along into that thread.
The original point that I made in my original post, was, and I copy and
paste:

any) or any component of TwoBearCatz' statements to please clarify them, in
a cogent, objective, specific fashion. Because I really am interested in
hearing about it. I'm not interested in participating in a petty,
predictable, knee-jerk flame war.

If he was as good as he claims, he wouldn't have a second to spare
for Usenet. He'd be getting ready to buy Microsoft with the profits from
his chain of 5 million computer shops.

pity, rather than scorn. But scorn will keep them typing...
