|
|
I know that need a rollover cable to connect from the router to a laptop. I
bought a RJ45 to DB 9 adapter for the laptop serial port, but the adapter
came with the DB9 end not wired.
If I wire pin 1 of the adapter's rj45 to pin 1 of the db9 and pin 2 to pin
2, etc, and then use a rollover cable to the router's console port, will
this be correct?
Or, what is the correct pinout for the adapter? I get hyperterminal to say
that I'm connected, but nothing else happens.
Thanks.

Hi. I can send you a Cisco DB9-RJ45 connector, or you can make one if you
would like. Here are the pinouts with the front side of the DB9 connector
facing away from you.
* * * * *
* * * *
none 6 3 2 4/5
7 1 8 none
If you have standard colors on the DB9-RJ45, the pinouts are:
* * * * *
* * * *
none ylw blk orng red/green
brown blue white none
Here is where pin #1 is
Figure A-2 RJ-45 Cable
It takes a special tool to get pins 4 and 5 to fit properly in the DB9-RJ45
connector. We have lots of these DB9-RJ45 connectors lying around so let me
know if you need one.
