I would like to config this pix 501 to answer requests from the Internet
from user's homes to setup commercial grade, reliable VPN sessions. At
home, I assume the user would be using the cisco vpn client.

Is this the correct use of the pix 501 or is the 501 the home unit and I
have to have a router on the business/file server side of the Internet?

I though tthe 501 replaces the toys like linksys and smc barricade?
regards,
John

I used a 515e myself, but the literature says I think that a 501 will
terminate 10 connections. Just ask you vendor and the sales rep should point
you to the right peice.

Use the PIX 506E and the VPN Client software. You'll be happier.
