Hey Sanfran,
Congrat on your 9E0-421 exam! How is your DQOS going? Wanna exchange
info/notes offline? My email is yadiyadado@yahoo.com.

I passed the 9E0-421 Saturday after a second try. Total questions were 60
to complete within 75 minutes. Passing score was 720 - which is exactly
what I received! The Cisco Gods must have been looking out for me.
I still don't know where some of the questions came from. I used the
following material -----
CiscoPress Troubleshooting Cisco Internet Phones book (IPTT).
Cisco Learning Course book "Deploying Cisco QOS for the Enterprise
Networks"
which I purchased off of Ebay.
Syngress Press Syngress Cisco AVVID And IP Telephony Design And
Implementation book.
PDF's from cisco website for CallManager and Unity
I also came accross the following in my notes from a search I did on IPTT
using Google
"...there is a definate logical order to how you should attain these
certs.
I would go for Support Specialist first. CIPT - this will give you a
background on what CallManager is about, some design models, how to
provision route plans, gatesways, phones, etc. CVOICE - this will give
you
the background on getting your gateways configured basically...some call
admission control....more voice over frame than voice over IP really...but
it is the only test they got. DQOS - One of the worst written tests on
earth....hope to god they modify it...some questions definately have no
correct answers...acroynm hell too...nothing is in works all in initials
et
cbwfg...and that is an easy one....learn your acronyms and get your qos
concepts down hard....
Then I would get my design specialist...
DQOS - you would have already taken it for support specialist. EVODD -
sleeper exam...nothing too hard...more just a basic overview of cipt,
cvoice, and dqos....passed it without studying.
Last but not least....operations specialist
DQOS - you would have already taken it...
IPTT - but kicker of a test....none of the test material you would have
looked at earlier (through the cisco press books) even applies to it. It
is
definately purely about running traces and stuff...the real material is
the
help files...these are also on the documentation CD for callmanager and
unity. Know how to run traces, what trace does, etc...basically what is
covered in the exam objectives."
On to DQOS which I hope to take by the end of July.

Thank you for contacting Cisco Training and Career Certifications team.
The Cisco Press Cisco IP Telephony will not count toward the 9E0-441
exam
since it contains new exam content. The same applies for the Cisco Voice
over Frame Relay, ATM, and IP book. It will not apply toward the 9E0-431
exam.
The Voice over IP Fundamentals applies to the 9E0-423 exam.
Unfortunately,
we do not offer self study material for the Deploying QoS for Enterprise
Networks exam.
To prepare for CIPT 9EO-441, CVOICE 9EO-431, the IPTT 9EO-421,and DQoS
9EO-601 exams Cisco offers the following training courses:
* IP Telephony Troubleshooting (IPTT)
* Cisco IP Telephony (CIPT)
* Cisco Voice Over Frame Relay, ATM, and IP (CVOICE)
* Deploying QoS for Enterprise Networks (DQoS)
These courses are available as instructor-led training or live
e-learning
and are only offered through a Cisco Certified Learning Partner. Use the

I'm in the process studying for the 9E0-421. I failed the test once
so
ar - all I can suggest is read whatever you can find on AVVID. This
includes Call Manager, Unity, and network configuration in general.
Cisco
web/support has some good material. I initially used the Cisco Press
CIPT
book - alot of stuff - not much of it on the actual test (not the one
I
took
anyway). If I remember correctly the test had some QOS questions,
some
VLAN
config questions, some Unity, and Call Manager questions. All total
there
were 60 of them, and atleast 75% were multiple choice. No simulations.
Good luck in your studying. Maybe in the furture we can share notes.
I'll
post the outcome of my next text, and what I can remember (no - not
the
actual questions - or even close) from the mind numbing experience.

Hello Folks,
I am looking forward to pursue some Cisco Voice over IP
certifications.
Possibly, heading for CCIE Voice over IP. But before shooting for
the
big
target, I would like to get a few Specialist certfications first. I
am
interest in Cisco IP Telephony Operations Specialist and Cisco IP
Telephony
Support Specialist.
The path for Support Specialist are Cisco IP Telephony (9E0-441
CIPT),
Cisco
Voice Over IP (9E0-431 CVOICE), and Deploying QoS for Enterprise
Networks
(9E0-601 DQOS).
The path for Operations Specialist are IP Telephony Troubleshooting
(9E0-422
or 9E0-421 IPTT) and Deploying QoS for Enterprise Networks (9E0-601
DQOS)
Could any of you please point me to the correct self-study materials
that
I
can use for these exames? I tried to search around on Ciscopress
and
found
the following:
Cisco IP Telephony <--exam 9E0-402, can I use this for 9E0-441?
Cisco Voice over Frame Relay, ATM, and IP <--exam 9E0-423, can I
use
this
for 9E0-431?
Voice over IP Fundamentals <--is this for 9E0-431 or the above?
Whats the right book for Deploying QoS for Enterprise Networks?
Any input are greately appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Have not had the opportunity to do too much studying this month. I recently
upgraded my companys Call Managers from 3.0 to 3.2, and plan to go to 3.3
this weekend. I started studying the material for DQOS, but got tied up
with the CallManager upgrades and a few other things going on at the office.
Hope to complete the DQOS by the end of August.
CicsoPress is supposed to have a DQOS book available in a few weeks, which
works out great because I was going to delay the test until I had an
opportunity to review the book. Have you taken any test yet?

Nah, haven't got the time to work on the VOIP materials yet. Just got my
CCNP reccently, so am on a break at the moment:) Gonna need to start
working on the VOIP materials pretty soon because it BIG and COMING. Since
Cisco changed their VOIP Specialist exams reccently, I guess I will wait
untill the new study guides comes out. While I am waiting, I had my
employer purchased all those books listed on CCIE VOIP recommandation list.
Hopefully, reading the old materials will prepare me for the new Specialist
study guide when it released. Oh ya, thanks for info about the QDOS book!
Looking forward for that to come out. |
