Sub-par medical care in socialist Canada? CRAP!!!! We have a public health
system (like the UK) that doesn't refuse you treatment if you don't have the
right insurance, our drug prices are half what the US pharmacies
charge(that's why the merkins charter buses to come across the border to get
their prescriptions filled) and treatment is as good(and in some cases
better) than in the US. So we pay a little more in taxes(but not that
much-in some cases less than some states) and we can walk down the street
without fear that some brainless 'ghetto child' is going to take a pot-shot
at us because he doesn't have the intelligence to realise that guns kill
people (are you listening NRA?).
If that's living in a socialist state, then I'm glad I do! Why are Americans
so afraid of 'socialism'? Canada is NOT a socialist state, but it is a
country where people care about the health and welfare of others......
Having spent the first 36 years of my life living in the UK and the last 13
years in Canada, I know which country I prefer! Yes, the UK is a
rip-off(that's why they call it 'treasure island') and it's so much in
thrall to the great American Dream that the people let it happen in the name
of capitalism......you get what you ask for!
If all you want is the American Dream, then go for it....but make sure that
you are aware of the downside.....no help when things go wrong, no help when
you are sick and no help when you are vulnerable!
End of rant......

Do you want to give away most of your money to the government in taxes,

receive sub-par medical care and other socialist items? Move to the EU or
Canada.

Do you want to become a minority, and have your accent count badly against
you? Move to the US. Cost of living in the US is highly varied, so a
blanket statement about it is useless.

India is WAY overpopulated, you don't want to move there. I also assume
you
are Muslim (dominant religion in SA), not a very good thing to be in India
right now.

Sorry folks. My bad.

1 GBP = R11.9
1 USD = R8.4
1 EUR = R7.5

This changes things.

You don't know much about what occurs in the daily life of most
Americans; only what you see on TV or read in biased newspapers.

Hmmm, I think George is smoking something. I work with tons of
Canadians, and I have heard about their tax rates first hand from a
number of coworkers. They pay quite a bit more than "a little more."

But all that aside, we could cite all the Canadians that hold private
insurance because they don't want to wait a few months to get an
important medical procedure when their life might be at stack. Or
those that come to the US to get care instead of using the "high
quality" care offered "for free" in their own country.

Even that isn't important. Everything is a trade off, that is for
sure. It is more of a question of whether or not you believe things
are better off being controlled by the government from an economic
standpoint. You aren't getting free health care...you are still
buying your health care one way or another. You either pre-paid to
one entity or another (while they earned interest off your money) or
you paid after the fact. If the government is going to tax you for it
and also make it cheap, then quality is going to suffer...the laws of
economics are at play whether it is the government managing it or the
private sector. So if you believe you can manage your own finances
better than the government can, you might prefer a private health care
system. If you believe the goverment can spend your money better than
you can, they you would rather give it to the government and let them
manage your welfare. But governments (especially big socialistic
style governments) are notoriously corrupt, inefficient, and wasteful.
Did I mention that the government cares less about you than a private
company who you are *paying* for services? It isn't like you can tell
the government to "stick it" and go pay a different government for
health care when your own government screws you over. At least a
private company is being paid to care. The government gets paid
whether or not they care. And stifling competition has almost always
been a bad thing in the long run. The only recourse you have when the
government is running everything is to have a revolution.

Those are some of the key differences. It really comes down to the
value you are getting when health care is managed privately vs. by
government.

I think you are confused. Guns don't pull their own triggers...people do.
Cars kill more people in the US each year than guns do. Personal
Responsibility is what is needed. Guns don't kill people, people with guns,
knives, bats, rocks, explosives, et al, kill people.

Criminalize the owning of guns, and only criminals will own guns...
