|
|
I tried the reset procedure from monitor mode, but am unable to ping test.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_password_recovery09186a008009478b.shtml#sample
What is the correct way to reset the password (using monitor mode) ?
I downloaded the np61.bin file, but the tech doc does say where this file
should be on a floppyless pix.
I have it on the root of a: on my laptop.
My setup in my lab is the pix501, connected to the laptop - I get link, but
am unable to ping even after I verify the ip address of the port.
regards,
John |

I am using pumpkin on my laptop as a tftp server.
when in monitor mode, there is a tftp command in the pix501.
I am unable to ping from the monitor mode to my laptop.
I'll take the pix into the lab at work today and put a router in between the
pix and my laptop.

Hmmm....Not sure if putting a router between them will help. Just to check,
you have the laptop connected directly to one of the inside interfaces on
the 501? IP's are in the same subnet and such...

yup...same subnet...he used his desktop, maybe its my laptop.
oddest thing - a ccnp was able to make it work, but I never could.
he broke the password for me and next I was going to upgrade the software,
but I couldn't tftp again.
I have 2 new ones arriving tuesday, so then I can open a tac call.

problem was something is wrong with my laptop that work issues.
they do a highly modified image with old drivers and such and wont let us do
ms upgrade to modernize it.
I guess I will have to get it reimaged, plus they use pointsec and it is
very slow to boot and shutdown.
when I used a desktop in the office, I could do tftp no problem.
