It depends on what you really like to do. Networking, playing with
protocols, analyzers, OR System Administration ?

What is more "appealing" to you ?

Micosoft (well somebody GOT to do it..)

Cisco ( if get hooked onto this stuff, it is for life )

**ix ( same as Cisco )

A+ and Net+ barely touch the material for Cisco. You could be in for a
rude awakening.. It is worth it anyway ! ;-)

Good Luck !

What is that you like to do : managing a server , or working on a
network: there is our answer. Check the FAQ on this newsgroup.

Keep in mind that A+ and Net+ barely touch on the material you need to
know for the CCNA. It could be a rude awakening, but if you like the
stuff, it is worth it !

Good Luck !

:-)

Having started my career in Network Administration within MS-based companies
by completing MCSE NT4, then W2K, and progressing to current study of Cisco
concepts, I think MS and Cisco tracks actually complement each other and
give a rounded ability to successfully manage a network based on products
from those two companies. Just a knowledge of subnetting doesn't mean
you're a great SQL Server admin, for instance, and, similarly, being a whizz
at Active Directory, without being able to investigate and resolve switching
problems doesn't lend itself to successful network management.

If you're interested in Sys/Net Admin, I think MS certs will lead you more
gently into the world of networking and Cisco will fill out your knowledge
whilst you're on the job learning.

Maybe go for MCSA, then CCNA.

I agree. great post !

Yeah, Steffi, after all if I am correct you only have 3 exams to go,
and you are MCSA, then do the CCNA track, and you will have a well
rounded knowledge, and a great starting point.
