From past experiance I have had nothing but trouble with Windows
Hyperterminal with past devices, and was told that TeraTerm is the route to
go. Works great with the Nokia IP series firewalls and other devices..

Where I run into problems with my Cisco 2503 is doing a traceroute to a
locatiom. If the desitination is not reachable, it says to enter escape
command. I assumed that was hit the escape key, but that doesn't seem to do
anything. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a problem with the
TeraTermPro software terminal that I am using. What does everyone else use
with more success?

Thanks, MJM

I use a program called CRT made by http://vandyke.com. I have never had any
trouble with it. It also allows you to script you logins, etc It's
fantastic.

Learn your stuff :-)

What cisco calls "Escape Sequence" is not "ESC Key". It's "Control-Shift-6",
and then "x" key.

Good luck.

I too have my problems with Hyper Terminal. I like CRT/SecureCRT from Van
Dyke or Reflections.

Hilgraeve has a free HyperTerminal Pro for download on their site.
This fixes the majority of irritating bugs in the MS version. Maybe
not the best Term out there, but it does work...

Nope. I didn't realize it used to have one. I just started using it
a few months ago, and I have never seen a nag screen. Maybe the
nagging depends on answering the questions the "right way" when you
install it. It asks if you own your own computer, etc.
