I hope you guys can help as i am new to this but
i have been given an old router by an engineer friend as he is upgrading
companies networks. the router is password
protected but I cannot get into `rommon` I am using hyperterminal
in w2k I have tried break, ctrl+break but the router just boots up
normally...If i press esc while booting I get
ready to upload firmware so is there an alternative keystroke to enter
rommon
I know you guys wil be sceptical but this is a legitimate hand me down
thanks in advance |

I've had trouble getting the break sequence to work in Hyper Terminal
before. I would suggest going to www.vandyke.com and downloading a copy of
CRT. I have never had trouble getting the Ctrl+Break to work with CRT. You
can download a fully-functional copy of CRT from them.
Hope this helps.

I agree that CRT is the best thing out there for windows. Too bad it costs
$. Putty is also good and it's free.
You may want to also verify that your CTL and break keys work. Try them on
some other application. Check that they are enabled by your keyboard
settings (101/102 key should do it). Fish around in the control pannel
until you find the right place.
