Hi,
I've got a Catalyst 2916m switch and wish to set it up with 2 VLANs of 8
ports each. It is running the software
IOS (tm) C2900XL Software (C2900XL-HS-M), Version 11.2(8)SA5
I have two questions
How do I set up the two VLANs?
and
Can this switch run SET based OS?
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't believe there is a way to run CatOS on this switch. Actually, I
don't believe there are many switches that you have the option of choosing
IOS or CatOS... you get what you get. Anyway, to create a VLAN you need to
enter "vlan database" from enable mode. From here you can see which VLAN's
exist, etc. Creating the VLAN is simple, you just enter "vlan" followed by
the VLAN # you want to create. There are other options but that's all
you'll need to create the VLAN.
To add an interface to the VLAN you will need to issue the "switchport
access vlan <vlan #>" command from interface configuration mode.
Hope this helps,
