| I found that reading the following books (which I read months before decided to change careers into IT, and before I attempted ANY certifications) helped me out a LOT more than any of the study guides: "Crypto" by Steven Levy, "Practical Cryptography" by Niels Ferguson/Bruce Schneier, "Stealing the Network: How to Own the Box/Continent" by Syngress (various authors), and "Network Security: A Hacker's Perspective" by Ankit Fadia. Also, make sure to check out the pgp website for a better understanding of PGP. Most importantly, actually USE some "tools" (send yourself a PGP email, do some port scanning with nmap, play with Ethereal). A little hands-on goes a LOT further than all of the books and exam simulation put together. Only my $.02 |
