I am very exited because I recently got a job based on the Linux operating system. It is my first job. Today my boss told me that I have to pass CompTIA Linux + certification within a month. I know that the certification includes basic installation, operation and troubleshooting of Linux operating systems, which is not very tough. But I have only a few days experience and one month is a very less period, so I am nervous. I do not want to lose my job. I heard about a book, Running Linux by Matt Welsh, Lar Kaufman but I am confused. I want the easiest and fastest way of getting knowledge. Somebody told me that the simulation test from ucertify is good. Please help me by telling where to start? And also suggest me good sites and books for it.
Thanks |

CompTIA Linux+ exam validates the knowledge of basic installation, operation and troubleshooting for Linux operating systems. The objectives of this certification can be divided into, Installation 19%, Configuration 20%, Management/Maintenance 26%, Security 21%, Documentation 6%, and Basic Linux Hardware 8%. The book you are using is good but not sufficient. It will give you knowledge but knowledge is going to waste until and unless you are not practicing on that. You must go for exam simulation, which provides you a real exam environment. I suggest you to take the free practice exams by http://www.ucertify.com. From my experience I can say that they are really helpful
Best of luck |

Hi! Havent had the Linux cert exam from CompTIA yet. However, just passed my Network+ this week.
I found Exam Cram2 to be a straightforward and detailed book. I'm pretty sure there's one for Linux (worth a check). It covers the topics in the exam by dealing with them one objective at a time so it's really good if you want to learn fast and in a short period of time. Nothing beats experience and a good number of resources to prepare for an exam though, however this could really help if you are in a tight spot.
You can also search google for some sites that could also help you out in a short period of time.
Hope this helps... Good luck on your exam.
