Hi,
The purpose of a DHCP server is to dyamically assign IP addresses to hosts rather than having to type them in manually. This is ideal when working in large organisations. However, it is good practise to reserve addresses for servers and network printers, and keep them static so they dont change.

Also,
If you are running a larger network say maybe a LAN party or somthing similar. It isnt a good idea to have your router assign IP addreses because it can cause your entire network to slowdown because the processing power of your average router isnt that great.  |
