Hello All,

A good friend of mine (no, it really is not me) recently became infected
with the Blaster worm, and then Welchia. He tried to take steps to
remove the virus, but ended up downloading a "cleaner" from webroot.com
and another site (I do not know which one).

OK...Now the virus is gone. But his user settings are completely
gone. All his previous desktop setting (icons, etc) are history. When
he sets up a new account, and re-configures the desktop, settings are
lost upon re-boot.

Are there and know virus infections that cause this behavior and
how would one try to fix this user settings issue (apart from the
viruses)...THANKS

BigB,
What did your buddy use to clean his machine? I have cleaned over 100
machines of this virus/worm in the last week or so and have never seen this
type of effect.
