Hi Rahul

In fact, MCSD certification and 70-316 exam will be discontinued.

In the new generation of certifications there will be new titles: MCTS, MCPD
Distributed Apps, MCPD Windows Apps, MCPD Web Apps and MCPD Enterprise Apps.

You can read more in
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcpd/default.asp

MCPD certification will be available in the middle of the year

Hi,

We still have years in front of us before the actual MCSD willl be obsolete,
for the simple fact that it is not becasue a new version of a product is
released that everyone will absolutely move right away.
You can be sure that they will be far from enought company which will be
still using 2003 and required specialist.

My advise is fully complete your 2003 certification and then run for an
upgrade to 2005 when required. At then end you will know both

serge

I disagree.
MCAD/MCSD exams are heavy on the ADO.NET sometimes in a very confusing
tangled way and the thing is out of everything that has changed in 2.0
ADO.NET has changed the most (and simplified the most).
Plus, what a better way to impress an new employer then to sit and talk
during an interview about things they might not even know yet!

Hi sean,

I am sorry to say that but I thing you are far from the reallity. What I
mean is that if you just start to be certified then thats clear that you
should go directly with the new certification path, but if you have a
certification program on progress you should definilty finished it. Then when
new certification upgrade will be available you caneasily upgrade.

From the point of discussion with a customer or providing a solution based
ona customer requirement, the customer do not care on the way you are doing
it, I mean which style of programming you gonna select to fullfill its needs,
most importnat thing is that you reach the final goal with a logical and
straight study. This is the main.

one thing important too is that you should consider a certification has a
paper to show to the customer that you have deep knowledge on a technology
but I have heard some customer saying that some people get certified but when
in front of a real case to solved, they were not able to fullfill the needs.
What was missing for those guys was EXPERIENCE, and this is what customers
are expected and not only beautifull paper.

Based on MCAD on MCSD path, when Microsoft will retire exam based on VS
2003, you will still have one year to upgrade and trust me that still you
will have customer running application on 2003 during that time

serge
