I'm currently looking at doing the mcsd (and/or the new generation exams)
certification. As far as I can see I can either get some books and get my
nose into them or I can pay for a course of e-learning.

I can pay about $5000 for skillsoft to train me or I can pay a couple of
hundred $ for a bunch of books. Is there a particular advantage to going the
Skillsoft route? The microsoft e-learning courses appear to be cheaper, are
they better or worse than skillsoft? Are there better training providors
that would be more suitable, or would I be better off just buying the books
and disciplining myself?

I'm sure this is is a FAQ, but I haven't found it answered so far.

Thanks in advance

Self training cost you less, but sometimes not better than instrctor-led
courses.

The instructor usually have better experience, and you can guarantee that
you'll pass, [I've Done OCP and scored 95% in every module]

It all depends on your background.

Well said. I nominate this sentence for the MCSotD award.

Thanks for your generous offer. However I have some already and more on the
way from Amazon (way cheaper than here in Australia, even including
postage). Started today, see how I go.

Cheers
