Hello everyone ?

I'm curious about exactly what softwares use timestamp ICMP messages.

Here is what I read:
....Hosts on different networks who attempt to communicate with software
that requires time synchronization can encounter problems. The ICMP

Timestamp ICMP messages seem to have originally be intended to allow
stations running IP to synchronize their clocks but later developments
like Network Time Protocol (NTP) seem to have made the ICMP timestamp
message irrelevant and so this does not get used much (if at all)
anymore for this purpose.

However, it seems to be helpful in some less than desirable conditions
for mapping networks. Look at

http://www.networkuptime.com/nmap/page4-7.shtml

for instance.
