I was trying to find a version comparison between the different 7.x versions
of the PIX IOS.
Any leads would be great.
Thanks! |

Thanks!
Is there a preferred version to run then? I just Upgraded from 6.3 to
7.0(4)
Should I go to 7.1(2)?
Thanks

I haven't figured out yet why they released 7.1. My speculation
had been that it would be for a soon-to-be-announced new device,
but that hasn't materialized. My next best guess is that it has
something to do with PIX vs ASA, but I can't tell from the release notes.
I would suggest that this is a situation in which you should open
a TAC case and ask about the difference. [I've shifted out of the
networking side at work, so I don't have a TAC account now.] |

So far this is what I got
Scott<-
------------
If you want to use the new feature of the 7.x code. Then I would say to go
to the latest 7.1 code that is avaiable. If you do not need the new features
then I would stay with the 6.3.5 code.
When you go to replace the 515 with the 515E this is how would recommend
doing it.
1. First install 6.3.5 code on the pix 515E.
2. Copy the configuration from the 515 pix.
3. Upgrade the pix to 7.0 code. This will change the command format from 6.3
to 7.x format.
4. Upgrade the pix from 7.0 to the latest 7.1 code.
