Sorry if this posted twice, first post died on submission.

I have 4 servers and one 8 slot autoloader. I want to have a
Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape backup method that is effective in a disaster recovery
scenario. I don't have backup software agents for each server, we decided to
go with the better hardware and use one server as a file/backup server with
the autloader and tape software.

I want to backup each server to the backupserver drives, then backup the
backups to the autoloader. Servers are Exchange, SQL 2000, File/Print and
Backup.

I thought about using a full/differential backup from each server to the
backup drives, then performing backups to autloader as follows:

Work week is Monday thru Saturday:

Sunday1 - full backup to disk for each server
Monday - Saturday, differential backups for each server to disk
Sunday2- full backup to disk for each server
Start with Mon-Sat diff backups again, overwriting each.

This way, I have two weeks of backups on disk. My challenge is, how do I
implement the autoloader to backup the backups? It seems pointless to use
differential backups since the disk data will change completely every day. I
just need to know if there's a good way to do this, other than purchasing
thousands more in backup agents for each server.

I truly appreciate any advice received!

Thanks!
eric
