A client hit me with an interesting one this morning.

They have a Windows 2003 Server with AD setup. A portion of their boxes are
signed into the domain, several are not. Those signed on to the domain are
functioning just fine.

When they bring up a box that is NOT a part of the domain, as soon as it
signs into the network it tosses out an error that another computer is
already on the network with the same name. Of course, the unit that gets
this error is the only unit on the network with that name. This is
happening to every box that is NOT a part of the domain (and yes, they all
have different names).

If the server is restarted, the problem goes away, suggesting that the
server is somehow maintaining information on the non-domain systems that
causes this error.

Anyone seen this? Got any suggestions?

James
