|
|
Ok this is the First time that I have ever upgraded AD.
I have two 2000 Domain controllers and a Exchange 2000 server. Also I have
several Windows 2000 and 2003 Member Servers in the Mixed.
For now I want to Upgrade the DC's only and leave the Exchange 2000 the way
it is. Later on I will upgrade the Exchange 2000 server to Exchange 2003. Do
you see any problems with this plan?
Is there any upgrade guides on the web that I can review? Thanks.

in your situation it comes down to:
* Fix the schema with the InetOrg fix
* Update schema and domain for w2k3 dcs (ADPREP)
* introduce w2k3 dcs
* transfer roles and services from the w2k dcs to w2k3 dcs
* Make sure that anything that points to the w2k dcs (in any way, e.g.
TCP/IP settings servers and clients, DHCP, etc), now points to the w2k3 dcs
* Remove w2k dcs
* increase DFL and FFL (be aware that in FFL e2k does not support LVR, which
means that it functions but it does not understand it)

Let me add this is an In Place Upgrade of the DC,s, or would it be better I
build a new 2003 DC and migrate the roles over two the new server? Thanks.
