|
|
Hi
I hope this is the right forum, forgive me if it is not, but I'm after
a bit of help with DNS and Active Directory Integrated Zones and a bit
guideance with Sites and Services.
We have 5 sites in total, one of which has been shut down. It had one
DC at this site which I ran DC promo on to remove it and it was
successful. The Sites and Services still show the subnet, site and the
server but the details are blank. I'm assuming it is safe just to
delete the site and subnet from the Sites and Services or do I need to
do anthing else?
Secondly in DNS, under reverse Lookups the site is still listed and
say's it is running. When I go to delete this it warns me that it is
an "Active Directory Integrated Zone. If you decide to delete this
zone from the DNS server, it will be deleted from Active Directory".
Again is it safe just to say yes or do I need to do anything or check
anything before I say yes.
Any help gratefully received, thanks. |

If you have already demoted the only DC in that site and you are using that
subnet no more, you can remove them.

Again, if you have no more PCs configured in that subnet you can remove the
reverse lookup zone related to it. The best thing you can do before making
this kind of changes is to be sure to have a full backup (including System
State) of all domain controllers.
