Hi,

I have Windows2003 and AD (+dns) installed with default selections.
I created the Domain homenet.com.

Should my WinXP(pro) find the domain and log on to it, without doing
anything else? Should it be that easy?

My server ip is 192.168.0.1 and XP:s ip 192.168.0.2.
They are able to ping each other and file shering works fine (no
firewalls), but when I try to add the XP to the Domain (My
computer/Properties/computer name/Change/ etc..), I always get the error
"A domain controller for the domain could not be contacted".

Your DNS is set up wrong. On the AD DNS server point it to itself for DNS in
the properties of TCP/IP.
Point your AD client to the DNS server setup for the AD domain only. For
Internet access either set up your AD DNS server to forward requests and
list your ISP's DNS servers as the forwarder or use root hints.

Windows XP using DNS to find a domain controller. So you have to give a
correct DNS setting in order to do that
