Hi,
This morning the users could open a session, but no user could access
outlook, the shares...
I've rebooted the domain controler and they are now able work.
Before I rebooting the server i've tried to access the AD users and
computers console but i've had an error message : "naming information cannot
be located because of the following reason : server is not operationnal..."
On the event log, i've got the following ID :
- in sytem : ID 2019 (every minutes before the reboot)
- In Directory service : ID 1311 and 1566 every 15 minutes : still occur
- in application: ID 1053 and 1030 very 5 minutes before the reboot
This issue occured only in one site (We've got more than 14 sites, each of
them with a domain controler)
Thanks in advance for your help,
Thomas. |

Error 1311 is due to KCC problem, look at this
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/819249/en-us
Error 2019 is due to memory leak issue, look at this

KCC problem does not happens that easily, it occurs only when yo have many
sites, many domains, and many DCs. The timing for all of them to get
synchronize sometimes might get rather cranky.
I believe in your case, the main issue is due to your server freeze which
trigger off the KCC to malfunction. If you are able to solve the this issue,
the event for 1311 should resolve by itself.
One rule of thumb is whenever you analyze the event viewer, look for the
first event that gives an error. Due to the nature of dependencies in all MS
services, the service that cause that error will tigger off a chain reaction
for other dependent services to halt. So once you are able to solve the root
cause, the rest will be self-healed
