When I search the AD for printers I find some printers that are no longer in
production. How can I delete even though I do not see it in the printer org.

You found the dismissed-printers objects using the Find tool in Active
Directory Users and Computers, didn't you? When the Find tool lists all the
printers, including the dismissed ones, you can choose anyone of them and
delete it right-clicking it and choosing 'Delete'.
