I have a client that has two sites that are networked via a VPN
connection using PIX firewalls. The two networks are on differing
subnets (128.1.1.x & 128.1.4.x). A Domain Controller exists on each
subnet and the network is set up as a single domain. Replication seems
to be working fine, a user added to server a is mirrored on server b
and vice versa.

The issue we're having is that a user that normally uses a machine on
the 128.1.4.x subnet and who accesses shares on server b sees his
shares on server b as read only when on the 128.1.1.x subnet
authenticated against server a. This is a user that needs to be able to
travel amongst the physical sites and always have access to his files.

He is set up as a domain user, and is also a member of a group 'Finance
Users'. The finance users group has full control over the files /
shares he needs to access.
