|
|
Hello Everyone!
I had a discussion on this few weeks back with Paul Williams, this has now
re-occurred. The last time it happened we had done a R2 schema update and one
of the remote DCs that was down during the schema update was brought up.
So our suspicion was towards replication initiated by the remote DC.
But yesterday, no changes were made and out of the blue, atleast one DC in
every domain (1 root domain + 4 child domains) was affected and wouldn't
respond giving us the -- "RPC server is busy error" message.
We patched two servers with the KB905700 hotfix and they seem to come up ok.
We will be patching the other servers in couple of days.
Don't understand what could cause this.
Anybody else experienced this problem??
rgds,
akn. |

Hello,
Did you applied SP1 and R2 at the same time to your DCs? Or did SP1 already
existed before you just installed the R2 Update.
If you applied SP1 and R2 at the same time, then the KB905700 may apply, PSS
should help you to identify if the patch apply in your environment when you
ask for the fix.

We had SP1 already applied.
PSS is clueless about this issue, their CPR can't figure out what could have
caused it.

And one more thing....sorry forgot to mention.....couple of DCs (in one
domain) were patched up and rebooted, they came up ok. Then just to check we
rebooted couple of other DCs (in another domain) without applying the patch
and they too came up ok. So i'm not really convinved.
But we did notice that 1-2 DCs that weren't patched up but just rebooted,
came back to give the same error after 5-6 hours.
The DCs that are patched seem to be stable (its been 12hrs now).
We are seeing this error on our schema master as well, we plan to install
the patch and restart it today. Will let all know what happened.
