|
|
I have a 2 site network that are connected via a MPLS WAN.
Each site has an internal network and an external router network for
accessing the MPLS WAN
Example
Site 1 Internal Subnet 10.95.0.0/21
Site 1 Router Network to MPLS WAN 10.95.254.0/29
Site 2 Internal Subnet 10.95.16.0/24
Site 2 Router Network to MPLS WAN 10.95.254.24/29
Why would I need to create the subnet object for the router networks in
DSSites?

Hi
You only need to relate the subnet regarding to your Site.
Active Directory uses sites to:
. Optimize replication for speed and bandwidth consumption between
domain controllers.
. Locate the closest domain controller for client logon, services, and
directory searches.
. Direct a Distributed File System (DFS) client to the server that is
hosting the requested data within the site.
. Replicate the system volume (SYSVOL), a collection of folders in the
file system that exists on each domain controller in a domain and is
required for implementation of Group Policy.

I hop that helps

Actually there is no need for it unless anything on the router network are
going to use the directory service, some day you have end-up with an ISA
server for example in that segment, It's recommended to put the entire
physical network into active directory.
