We are running a Windows 2000 Server with SP4. We have configured DFS to
replicate company folders to a Iomega NAS device, running their tailored
version of Windows 2000, in order to provide failover support as well as an
additional backup. We have several folders which are setup to replicate.
What is happening is when we restart the server FRS is acting as if it is the
first time replication and creating an NTFS_PreExisting_See_Event_Log folder
every time on the Server not on the NAS even though we have specified that
Server should be the primary replica (my understanding of this is by enabling
it first under the replication policy makes it the primary). What could be
the cause of this? Upgrading to a Windows 2003 R2 is not an option as the
server runs specialized software that is not compatible.
Additionally, if we decided not to use FRS due to this issue, is there any
recommended synchronization software that can provide similar features with
more control and options? |
