Someone in this newsgroup told me that MCPD Enterprise comprises of MCPD web
and MCPD Windows.

But I didnt find any info about it on MS website. Can anyone give me the
link to that.

Nah, it isn't like that. Well, it sort of is, but it isn't ;-)

If you are starting from scratch then you have to do the Web, Win and
distributed apps TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST exams. Then you do the
Enterprise exam and you get MCPD Enterprise.

However, if you upgrade from MCSD.Net then when you have passed the
first upgrade exam then you get the two you mention (except they are TS
not PD Quals), that is detailed here:
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/exams/70-553.asp

When you pass the second one then you get the MCPD Enterprise and the
Dist Apps tech specialist.

So you end up with 3 tech specialist and ent mcpd. I don't think you
get the other PD quals, it is kinda implicit.

You know what, I think I am confused now as well, I take back a joke I
made in an earlier post!!!

So if I wanna become MCPD win and web, I've to take two more exam after my
MCSD/MCAD?
Man, I hope, there was something which would be granddaddy of all, so it
could combine the whole thing. MCPD web+win+enterprise

Did you know there is now a microsoft.public.cert.developer.mcpd newsgroup.

I believe what you understand is true.

See if this helps:

MCPD Enterprise IS the grandaddy. You get that and you have covered
everything.

No, it's not. You can be MCPD-EAD and not have Web/Win.

Unofficially you might have covered everything, but if u wanna get MCPD
win+web, you still have to give 2 exam. So it should be something different,
otherwise, MS would have given MCPD win+web certificate upon completion of
MCPD enterprise.

Checked the course prescribed books, but they MCPD enterprise looks like, it
has book from both the courses.

That is why I thought it covered both. The upgrade exam covers
windows, web, WSE, XML etc. Pretty much everything that is in the
other two.

I think they need to make this clearer if we don't get it then what
chance have employers...

You are right, Rob. But my point here is that the MCPD:EAD
certification *conceptually* encompasses both the MCPD:Windows And
MCPD:Web. It does not matter if the exams are different.

Your comment at the mentioned link is : "MCPD:EAD = 553 + 554, but this
won't include MCPD:Web or MCPD:Win".

Why would you want to be all three, when the MCPD:EAD means that you
are proficient at both Windows and Web apps.

Just my 2c

Just for the sake of certification. If MCPD:Enterprise covered from both
thing, MS would have given you MCPD win + web upon completion as well, but
they're not. So that means there must be slight difference. I'm not sure,
but MS knows it better :p

I'm pretty sure exam 70-553 gives you TS:Web Applications and TS:Windows
Applications, exam 70-554 gives you TS:Distributed Applications.
