I took this test about 2 weeks ago and failed. I received a score of
653...with a 700 to pass. The real kicker is that I could not answer 4
questions....they were all the simulation questions. When I clicked on the
simulation box to bring up the simulation, nothing happened except the
question popped up again. This means that from the get go I was about 10% in
the hole. That is if all questions are weighted equally. The testing facility
(Prometric) just told me to try to pass without these 4 questions because
they (nor tech support) could do anything about it.
Anyone else with this sort of problem? |

When the simulation questions became a full part of the exam in April 2005
there were a whole heap of problems (for both Vue and Prometric). I had a
couple of exams cancelled because the Vue test centre couldn't even install
the software in time. I know Prometric, at the time, seemed to be taking
even longer than Vue to get things sorted out - I personally swapped to Vue
in August 2005 to do my 291 because of the problems I'd had with the
previous two attempts and problems Prometric were experiencing (tests
hanging, questions taking up to two minutes to appear...). I'm not saying
that Prometric still haven't got their software sorted out but it may be
worth considering trying a Vue centre to see if you get a better experience?

The onsite Prometric TA should have done something to help you. I would
suggest contacting both Microsoft and Prometric about this...

This is something to do with the testing centre. They have accepted the
responsibility to prove good quality of service. |

I had a similar situation at a VUE testing center. My test was also 70-291.
The simulations would not run properly. I scored a 668. I told the testing
admin and she made a note in the system. The next day VUE called and offered
me a free testing voucher. Took the exam again and passed it. As with all
computer related testing, every company has problems. At least VUE will make
it right.

Hi TechDave,
I agree with my colleagues that when you have problems with your exam due to
technical problems at the training centre - it has never happened to me but I
know a lot of people whose testing computers have crashed or whatnot - any
honest testing centre will tell work for you to get a free retake, and if
they do not then you should contact the test provider (Prometric) and they
will (should?) step up for you. I know that these companies work very hard
to keep their satisfaction ratings up, and if the centre does not care then
the provider will want to know that, and will usually compensate to make sure
you ARE satisfied.
Good luck!

That's why I promote VUE. They have far superior customer service when
compared to Prometric.

I know this because at one point I was asked to. I read the manual at the
time and started giggling when I came to the point in the Policies and
Procedures manual that mentioned that I can't do it. (I was so glad they
KNEW that from precious tests)

Right. If you proctor exams you cannot take the exams. In fact if you stop
proctoring you must wait 12 to 18 months depending on the exam Vendor.

anyone done 070-291 exam, i'm about to take this exam tomorrow and see if
anyone knows how many simulation questions were there.
everyone i think more or else will have problems with simulations but you
can pass it even not doing well on simulations.
