|

Hello All:
Everytime I boot my Pc, my Windows Firewall is disabled, I
always have to turn it on. I am running Win Xp Pro, Noton Internet
Security, Spybot, and Spyware Blaster. Are there any conflicts with
these? I also have Nvidia Firewall installed but not enabled, the
Norton Firewall is enabled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Mike |

Most likely NIS (Norton Internet Security) is disabling the Windows
Firewall because it (NIS) has it's own firewall, and in general you
don't want multiple firewalls. I think that you can set NIS to not
disable the WinXP firewall, but most likely you want one or the other of
them disabled. The NIS firewall is stronger (and also potentially more
problematic) than the WinXP firewall.

I tried disabling XP firewall, & ran GRC Leak Test, with only XP
Firewall enabled, & then Norton Firewall enabled. Leak Test could'nt
penetrate XP, but could penetrate Norton. Are there any other
firewall testing utilities that you might reccomend ?
