No surprise, and I don't expect miracles...

One of my customers just upgraded from v. 4 to v. 9. A bunch of her email
addresses are gone, and a bunch of her email groups, also. Of course, it's
virtually impossible to get in touch with a human being at that behemoth,
incompetent organization; I'm going to keep trying, but in the meantime, can
anyone here tell me if my time is being well-spent, or if I'm chasing a dead
trail?

Grumble, grumble, how this company continues to exist...

Thanks,

smackedass

It continues to exist because idiots keep buying thier ***. Whenever
possible i get customers to change to a real ISP.

FYI. I have seen COUNTLESS problems with the two latest versions of AOL!

I have been hearing that the AOL software has caused plenty of people
problems. Many tecs I know hate it. I used a long time ago, & gave
it up (memory hog). as far as upgrading the version of AOL, try
exporting the addresses as file (ie csv, etc). Not sure about the
email, what file types are the emails?

That's the thing, as far as I know, all AOL mail data exists on the AOL mail
server, and it's my impression that there's not much that you can do about
"carrying along" from a local backup.

Anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong...

is the log-in page for web access to AIM (AOL) webmail. You are
supposed to be allowed to keep your AOL E-mail account, drop AOL and
continue to access the account via AIM mail. This used to be the
Netscape mail server, till AOL combined it with Compuserve and AOL
accounts a few years ago. They recently forced a move to the new
servers, but the first time you log in to the new server, it transfers
your account from the old system. Just use your AOL screen name and
password to log in.

If you want to save a copy of an email, you can save it to your hard
drive, or just forward the few you want to keep to another account.
