When I try the configuration below on a 2600 router I always receive the “overlaps” message. Please help me!

Router(config)#interface serial 0/0
Router(config-if)#ip address 192.168.6.1 255.255.255.0
Router(config-if)#no shutdown
Router(config-if)#clock rate 56000

Router(config)#interface fastEthernet 0/0
Router(config-if)#ip address 192.168.6.2 255.255.255.0

I always get the message: "192.168.6.0 overlaps with Serial0/0"
WHY????

I can use 192.168.6.0, but not 192.168.5.0, 192.168.4.0 etc.
Should the subnet masks be different, if serial 0/0 is 6.1 and fastethernet 0/0 is 6.2?? How; serial 255.255.0.0 ? Fastethernet 255.255.255.0??
