How do I asign a vlan to the built-in fa 0/0 or fa0/1 of the 2811 ?

Currently I can only assign VLANs to the HWIC 4FE module on this
router with the switchport command, but the fa0/0 and fa 0/1 does not
understand the switchport command.

Thanks for your advice,

DT

You can't as these are layer 3 Interfaces, however they can be used to
create 802.1q trunks to other switches.

James, thanks for the info. I can then move the trunk port currently
on one port of the hwic to the fa 0/0 and then assign the vlan to that
port on the hwic.

I'm not 100% sure if you will be able to configure the same VLAN's on
an external switch as are on the ESW module. There was discussion
regarding this a few days ago - search for the post titled "Trouble
with 1841 and 4ESW Switch"
