|
|
Hi guys,
I wondered if anyone had an insight into a problem that I have just been
passed by a client running a Windows 2000 Domain with 2 Domain Controllers
(SRV3 and SRV5) on SP4. Both server's are global catalogues and one of them
(SRV5) is also running Exchange 2000 SP3.
There are a mountain of errors which I have provided details of below but I
suspect the main error could be based around NTFRS replication. As far as
symptoms of a problem go, the network is running smoothly on the face of it
but about every 7 days, usually on a Tues Night/ Weds Morning SRV5 locks up
and becomes unusable. The last time it had to be hard reset to get it going
again.
Errors:
DCDIAG - Most tests passed ok apart from:
SRV5:Starting test: frssysvol
Error: No record of File Replication System, SYSVOL started.
The Active Directory may be prevented from starting.
......................... SRV5 passed test frssysvol
SRV3:Starting test: frssysvol
There are errors after the SYSVOL has been shared.
The SYSVOL can prevent the AD from starting.
......................... SRV3 passed test frssysvol
FRS Event Log gives NTFRS Error 13508 frequently on SRV3 "FRS is having
trouble enabling replication from SRV5 to SRV3. Will keep trying."
SRV5 has NTFRS error 13568 - "File Replication Service has detected that the
replica set sysvol share is in JRNL_WRAP_ERROR." Whenever the service is
restarted.
Directory Service Event Log gives intermittent NTDS General 1188 and
Replication 1232 Errors on both SRV5 and SRV3.
Running REPLMON Status report gives some errors from SRV3 on replicating
some group policy objects:
Current Group Policy Object Status
----------------------------------
2k only logon scripts
Group Policy Object GUID: {04A9441E-D889-462F-848E-B0FC9DC9A8B2}
Group Policy Object Version in the DS: 131072
Group Policy Object Version in SYSVOL: ERROR

Group Policy Object GUID: {3D770246-4D25-4D74-9C22-0EAF3621445F}
Group Policy Object Version in the DS: 131072
Group Policy Object Version in SYSVOL: ERROR

Group Policy Object GUID: {99D3EBF2-067A-4F0E-BCFA-3E73835002BA}
Group Policy Object Version in the DS: 12
Group Policy Object Version in SYSVOL: ERROR

Group Policy Object GUID: {DF265B68-DA02-452F-B8EA-B27919EDB9D5}
Group Policy Object Version in the DS: 9
Group Policy Object Version in SYSVOL: ERROR
Also frequent errors on SRV5:
Application Log:
MS ExchangeDSAccess Topology 2104 - All the DS Servers in the domain are not
responding. - This appears for multiple processes.
USERENV 1000 Windows Cannot obtain the domain controller name for your
computer network. Return Value (2146)
All the system shares seem to be available on both servers.
Any ideas where to start? I am thinking of recommending enabling the
Registry Fix suggested to stop the Journal Wrap as suggested in NTFRS Error
13568 on SRV5 as a first point of troubleshooting.
All suggestions very greatly received.
Kind Regards

Have you looked at article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822158 and setup
AV scans correctly?
