When a user changes their password this gets replicated to the PDCE, etc,
this much I know. But reading various forums, technet, etc, it says then
that if the user then tries to authenticate to another DC (same or other
site) then before failing the authentication attempt the DC will refer to the
PDCE to check for updated password. That's all makes perfect sense, but.....

How does the different DC know that the password has changed and therefore
refer it to the PDCE if the re-authentication attempt occurs before
replication ?

I've been trawling technet and other sources and can't get an answer
