Hi All:

How vulnerable to a surge is a computer with a TV card in it in which
the coax cable from a wall jack is connected straight thru to the coax
jack on the TV card?

That is, the UPS on this computer does not have an in and an out for
coax. So, everything else is protected on the PC by the UPS and it
doesn't have a connected modem line since it uses high speed.

Is it safe to not worry about the coax from the wall being directly
connected into the TV card or should this also have surge protection
in the middle?

I want to protect the PC but I'm not sure how likely a surge is via
coax cable. Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Drew

It depends on where the coax ultimately goes. If it goes to an outdoor
antenna, it's quite vulnerable. If it goes to a Satellite, less
vulnerable. If it goes to a cable system .... hard to say (does the
cable system run underground or on telephone poles?).
