VPN Connections Do Not Redial On Lost Connection

I have several remote users that connect to my Windows 2003 server via VPN,
most can connect in the morning and work fine all day but a couple of them
will lose the connection randomly. The icon still shows in the systray like
they are connected but they cannot access any server data, they have to
disconnect & then reconnect to start working again. I have configured the
VPN client to redial if the connection is lost but since the icon is still
showing it looks like the connection isn't really lost.
