I am not sure if this still applies to this configuration (USN
Rollback) so let me explain what I want to do.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875495
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885875

Essentially I want to build a LAB environment. This lab environment
will never communicate with the production AD Inf.

In order to do this I would like to use vmware and P2V all of my FSMO
domain controllers. Will this work? I am sure it is not recommended by
MS but for a lab environment will this work?

The other way I was thinking of doing this is build a virtual DC in
each domain, P2V those DC's, Seize the fsmo roles. But this method
introduces virtual dc's in a production environment which I would have
to maintain.

Thoughts?

Paul

This sounds and looks perfect but lots of steps. If I P2V the DC's
wouldnt that do the same thing?

Check out an article I have written on building a test lab, I think most of
what you need will be with in this document.

Thats exactly what I was trying to explain!! leave the VM dcs in
production and whenever i need to "refresh" the LAB enviornment with a
new up-to-the-date copy of production I just shut them down and recopy
the vmdk files and throw them on the lab esx server.

Tested, Tried, Worked

Paul:: I do however appreciate you sending me to your site and showing
me your step-by-step doc. I made a copy as I think it is a perfect
follow through guide. Thanks!
