Q: I would like to get a short list of books for ccie-security written test. I have gone through Cisco recommendation, but would like to have few starting books.

I have not done any of CCSP tests but finished R&S

Above is the Blue Print.

Once you have at least CCNP level understanding of routing and protocol behavior, focus on the following:

MCNS Training book from Wenstrom Cisco Press
Designing Network Security Kaeo Cisco Press

That and read and understand ALL the safe documentation on cco, as well as Cisco Secure docs on Policy Manager, NT, Pix, IDS.

After that Read the 12.2 configuration section on cco for VPN and security.

Then read Pix 6.2 or 6.3 Configuration Guide for Firewall and Security
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/pix
/pix_sw/v_63/config/index.htm

Then Read VPN 3k Series Concentrator Reference series 1 & 2 http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/vpn/
vpn3000/4_0/index.htm

As per my knowledge, there r 2 books (cisco press) directly related to 350-018.

1. "CCIE Security Exam Certification Guide (CCIE Self-Study) by Henry Benjamin"

This book covers the outline/objectives of the written exam and talks about almost everything thats tested. Its very crammed, need to know it cover to cover.

the other book:

2. "Network Security Principles and Practices (CCIE Professional Development) by Saadat Malik"

This book talks about all the security stuff that can be tested in greater detail where as the (1) includes abt 200 pages of just basic general networking stuff.

I suggest getting these two books to get an idea for the written. This is the process I took, while reading these boks, which ever topic I found that I was weak, I picked up the relevant book and read it. "Managing cisco network security" talks about how to implement security in a network, "CCSP PIX Advanced" talks about the pix in detail, etc.

i was using :

Cisco IOS 12.0 Network security - u can d/l from cco

and many links from cco.
