Q: How does one go about signing up to take the test(s)?

Google

A: The "quickest" method is actually to call Prometric or VUE directly and
signup to take the exam at your local testing center- you can even register
for same day testing in most cases. Before you register online you need to
request an account from their respective web sites and it could take more
than 24 hours to receive.

I registered with vue and got my username and password by the next day.
After that it only takes a few minutes to sign up for tests, examine what
tests you have taken in the past, see exams you have scheduled and whatnot.
I recommend just signing up online and doing everything online. It will
save time in the future even if you have to wait a day at the beginning.
