| Q: I am planning to take the A+ course.. Heard a lot about Mike Meyers books and also I heard there's a ...for Dummies issue... Than there is a book from Sybex and Academic Service on A+... Can you tell me your experiences on these, please? |
| A: Go with the Meyer's All in One 4th edition---
the ultimate A+ book!! His A+ course on CD-ROM isn't bad either. I too highly recommend the All-in-One book by Mike Myers. 1. It's an excellent read, keeps you awake at night and once you finished you can be sure that every aspect important to the exam has been covered. I read somewhere that, if you only understand 60% of that book, you'll pass the test no bother. Very reassuring. 2. You could resell it after you pass the test (but I doubt you will) because somebody will want it. 3. The author contributes to this newsgroup and can answer your questions should you have any. 4. In case you got kids, the book comes in handy as a booster seat. So, the perfect choice. Have fun studying! Claudia For the same reasons mentioned by everyone else, All-in-One A+ Certification by Mike Meyers. As I read it, I tabbed the sections I would use again as reference. I pulled it out in front of a client to check on something (a pitfall Mike had mentioned, he points out a lot of them). My client was impressed, not only because I had read such a large book, but because it looks somewhat like a professional reference book. Can you imagine pulling out A+ Cetification for Dummies in front of a client? ;-) Zac source: alt.certification.a-plus |
